Richard and his family were listed in the 1820 Pendleton Dist., South Carolina Census with 1 male under 10, 1 male 26-44, 4 females under 10, 1 female 26-44, the 1830 McMinn Co., Tennessee Census with 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-9, 1 male 15-19, 1 male 50-59, 1 female under 5, 2 females 5-9, 2 females 10-14, 1 female 15-19, 1 female 30-39. Richard must have died sometime after that Census as Nancy was listed with her family in the 1850 East Armuchee, Walker Co., Georgia Census records. Nancy and her son Robert were listed in the 1860 East Armuchee District, Walker Co., Georgia Census as living with her son-in-law and daughter E.(lkana) C. and Mary Phillips. Their children were:

10. Sarah A. Treadaway, b: (1825-1830) 1827, TN
11. Robert Treadaway, b: 1831, TN
Note: Again, this information is not matching up. According to the 1830 census Richard has a male b: 1811-1815 (probably John C.), no other males until (1821-1825) which according to the 1850 Census is Richard A., and another male (1825-1830) which according to the 1850 Census is Robert. So, this leaves us with Thomas Treadway, b: 1812, R. Toliver, b: 1818, and Daniel C., b: 1819 not in their right family grouping.

Sketch of Thomas Treadaway by C. J. Angel: Thomas Treadaway, was converted to the Christian faith, in Rome, Georgia, through the efforts of the Methodist circuit rider: Rev. Robert J. Cowart. Thomas became a member of the Methodist Church. Following Thomas’ migration to Alabama he built a Missionary Baptist Church on his land and became a member of the Baptist faith.
Thomas owned many acres of land. His plantation was called Cherry Grove, upon which he built a fine frame home for his family. Thomas was a slave owner who owned, and operated a vast cotton plantation. Thomas routinely sold his crop in the Rome Georgia market. He was a man who was very secure financially. Thomas may have died from the result of contracting tuberculosis, or from a stomach ailment; his estate records list medicines: sugar of lead; sodium bromide; cough syrup; which the doctor had prescribed for Thomas’ final illness. These medicines were consistent with the treatment of TB and gastro-intestinal upset. Nancy, also, appears to have died from having contracted tuberculosis, or a stomach ailment; she was treated by the doctor 3 weeks before her death with quinine and cough syrup.
[Historical: In 1865 this old couple, “Tom”, and Miz Treadaway, were forced to flee from their home when a band of murdering marauders invaded their property. Shortly after the thieving band left the vicinity of the Cherry Grove plantation, an acquaintance of “Tom’s”, from Georgia passed by Cherry Grove and stopped at the Treadaway’s. This acquaintance was riding at the head of a vigilante posse 7 who was tracking the murderers. The gang had been in Georgia and had murdered the father of the leader of this posse. [The leader of this posse states in a published interview conducted in his elder years: ‘When we arrived at old Tom Treadaway’s we found the old couple still shaken and upset by the gang of thieves who had invaded their property. When Miz Treadaway heard of our search for the murderers she fell down on her knees and offered one of the most spiritual prayers for our cause. Her prayers continued as we rode off after the gang and I know this good Christian woman’s prayers were heard in heaven.’] [This posse leader did track down the men who had murdered his father, all eight of them. Two others survived the hunt of the posse but they soon died by other hands.]
Thomas’ estate records reveal items charged to the estate which were used in the making of his, and Nancy’s coffins. Coffin screws, bolts, nails, 9 yards of jeans (a woolen material), cambric (material), yards of velvet and ribbons were part of that coffin making process.
Thomas Treadaway entered military service on 04 July 1836, and participated in the Removal of the Seminoles from Florida. He served as a private under the command of Capt. Joseph Waters. Under the Act of 1852 Thomas was granted land for his military service; this land was never awarded to Thomas due to a mix up in his paperwork; however, thirty years after Thomas’ death, 04 Mar 1899, the United States awarded Thomas’ claim of eighty (80) acres to his only surviving heir, Thomas Didymus Treadaway. [copy of US Certificate in my file]
Thomas’ discharge certificate, on file in the National Archives, indicates that Thomas was not “on the rolls”. [copy of discharge in my file]
