This Indenture made the eighteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine Between William Treadway Junr of the county of Buncombe in the state of North Carolina of the first part, and Martin Many of they county of Buncombe and State of No. Carolina of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Treadway Junr for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds to him in hand paid by the said Martin Many the receipt where of the said William Treadway doth here by acknowledge hath given, granted, Bargained, sold

alien and confirm by these presents doth, give, grant, bargain and sell, alien and confirm unto the said Martin Many, his heirs and assigns for ever all that tract of land situate – lying and being in the County of Buncombe on the Waters of Ivy and on the big branch that runs in to the Bald Mountain creek above Aught Shotes Beginning on two white oaks on the East side of a hill and runs East two hundred poles to two white oaks on the North side of a ridge Then West two hundred poles to a stake Then South one hundred and sixty poles to the beginning – Entered the 25 of Oct 1789 – And also all the woods, ways, waters, water courses and all and every of the appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the revertion and the revertions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues and prophits to of the aforesaid land and premises and every part there of and all the estate right, title, interest, claim, prophit, and demand what so ever of the said William Treadway of, in and to the land and premises here by granted to have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises with the appurtances unto the said Martin Many, his heirs and assigns for ever and the said William Treadway for him self and his heirs the aforesaid land and premises and every part there of agains him and his heirs and assigns the claim or claims of all and every other person what so ever to the said Martin Many’s heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents, For Witness where of the said William Treadway hath here unto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written, sealed and delivered, in presents of
