Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hot Springs Methodist Church. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
Among survivors are five sisters, Mrs. Priscilla Trickle of Asheville and Mrs. Elvie Fuller, Mrs. Bertha Myers, Mrs Martha Harrison and Mrs. Jeanette Sumeral of Hot Springs.

The News-Record, Marshall, N.C., February 03, 1928: On January 22 at five o’clock in the morning our beloved mother, Mrs. A. E. Treadway was burned to death, she only lived 23 hours. She arose early to stay up and thought she would kindle the fire and go back to bed. She laid some pieces of kindling on the coals that were in the fireplace and turned her back to warm. Her clothes caught fire and every effort was made by her aged husband to save her from burning. One of his hands was badly burned in his efforts to extinguish the fire, God had a better home for her where there is no pain. She was 74 years old and is survived by her husband Mr. A. E. Treadway, and six children Mrs. Ledbetter of Asheville, Mrs. W. E. Ensley of Swannanoa, Mrs. J. M. Davis of Marshall, Mr. Charlie Treadway of Lexington, N. C., Mr. Curtis Treadway of Biltmore, N. C., and Mr. George Treadway of Sandy Bottom, N. C. Also two brothers Mr. George and Tom Harrison, both of West Asheville. Mother lived a true Christian and left a great example for her children and grandchildren to go by. All who knew mother, knew that she was true to her children and her home. We praise God for her sweet name, she was ever just the same. We can never forget our mother and our home.
Mothers’ gone and we are lonely, In this world of sin and woe, But we’ll meet her some glad morning. Where sad partings will be no more.

In Memory of Aaron Treadway
March 01, 1907: Aaron Treadway, the subject of this sketch, was born in Sullivan County, Tenn, in 1810, and departed this life February 14, 1907, being nearly 97 years of age. He was married to Priscilla Davis of this county on March 4th, 1834. They were blessed with 11 children, 5 daughters and 6 sons, of whom all married and reared large families of children, except W. C. Treadway, who remained with his parents and is now fifty years of age. Uncle Aaron was a model citizen, never having a suit in court and doing unto others as he wished them to do unto him. He was well liked by all who knew him. He was a school teacher of the “ye olden time” and his pupils who are living today praise Uncle Aaron for the good instruction he gave them. He had been a consistent member of the Methodist church since his early youth. His descendants are 11 children, 235 grandchildren 238 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren, making a total of 491. His aged wife expects soon to join her husband in that great beyond whence no traveler returns. She said it was hard to part with her companion whom she had lived with almost seventy-three years in peaceful harmony, and now could not look on his dear face cold in death.
Very appropriate funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Henry Ballard of Walnut. His remains were laid to rest at the Harrison cemetery near Sandy at 4 p.m. on the 15th.

The New-Record, Madison, N.C., January 28, 1971: Services for Mrs. Addie Treadway Corn, 90, of 23 Green Oak Rd., Asheville, who died Saturday night, Jan. 23, 1971, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Riverside Baptist Church.
The Rev. Mack Jamison officiated. Burial was in West Memorial Park Weaverville.
Pallbearers were Dwight Self, James Fisher, Bernard Lane and Niven Metcalf, Sam and Robert Pritchard, Stephen Ballard and Patrick Moss.
She was a native of Madison County for the past 50 years. She was the widow of Rev. J. A. Corn who died in 1950. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters; Mrs. Donnie Brigman and Mrs. Augsta Self both of the home, Mrs. Victorie Metcalfe of Weaverville, and Mrs. Hilliard Fisher of Asheville; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

The New-Record, Madison, N.C., July 28, 1982: Addie Treadway Crow of Rt. 5, Marshall died Sunday night in her home. She was 78 years old. A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Will and Matilda Norton Treadway and the widow of the late Arthur Crow who died in 1966. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the chapel of the Bowman Funeral Home in Marshall. The Rev. James Hensley will officiate. Burial will follow in the City Cemetery. Mrs. Crow was a member of the Davis Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter Mrs. Claude Boone of Marshall; three brothers, Henry Treadway of Marshall, Jasper Treadway of Mars Hills, and Charlie Treadway of Asheville; three sisters, Jessie Griffin and Hattie Crow of Marshall and Zora Flynn of Catawba, a grandson, and great grandson.

News from Walnut, N.C.
August 17, 1915: The death of Andrew Treadway of this place came as a shock to us all. He had been a High Point, for some time and only a short while since came home on a visit, and was in the best of health, upon his return to his work at High Pint, he was stricken with Typhoid fever and only lived one week, dying on August 19th, in the hospital at that place.
Andrew, was one of our most trusty young men being only 22 years of age. He was buried in the family cemetery, here on Saturday morning at 10 o’clock. Dr. A. J. McDevitt, of this place conducting the funeral services.
A large crowd was present and the floral offerings from his friends at High Point, were beautiful.
Surviving the deceased, are two brothers and five sisters, and his father, to mourn his loss.
Hereafter at the family gatherings “they will meet but they will miss him: there will be the vacant chair.”

The New-Record, Madison, N.C., Wednesday, August 31, 1983: Funeral Services were held Tuesday for Annie Treadway Marlor of Marshall who died Saturday in Madison County rest home at the age of 83.
Services were held in the chapel of Bowman Funeral Home in Marshall with the Rev. W. L. Crowe officiating. Burial was conducted in Bowman-Rector Cemetery.
A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Rachel Davis Treadway and the widow of the late Hobert Marlor, who died in 1931.
Mrs. Marlor was a retired Burlington Industries in Asheville, she was also a member of the Marshall Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Calvin and Jimmy Marlor of Asheville; two daughters, Virginia Leake of Marshal and Keela Norton of Asheville; two sisters Mary Crowe of Asheville and Ethel Owens of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ames Tribune, Saturday, January 22, 2011: Benny Treadway, 73, of Ames, died Friday Jan. 21, 2011, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A gathering of friends and family visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. A scripture service will be at 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Benny was born Nov. 15, 1937, in South Sioux City, Neb., the son of Hubert and Emma (Trickey) Treadway. He graduated from South Sioux City High School. He married LaVonne Frame in 1959. The family moved to California in 1963 where Benny was employed at Hughes Markets. He retired in 1979 and returned to Iowa. He worked at Iowa State University for 22 years as a mail carrier, retiring in 2003. He was a former member of Ames Moose Lodge No. 520 and St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, LaVonne, of Ames, and his four children: Randall (Vickie) Treadway, of Ames, Craig (Sandra) Treadway, of Story City, Tracey Treadway, of Nevada, and Stacey Carlson, of Ames. He also is survived by nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Treadway, of Sioux City; and two sisters, Delores Beckenbach and Leona Mae Marshall, both of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Hubert and Earl Treadway.

A lifelong resident of Madison County, she was the wife of Jeter Fortner, who died in 1964. She was the daughter of the late Wesley and Rachel Treadway. She was a member of Marshall Free Will Baptist Church.

Charles Treadway, Native Carolinian, Passes in Michigan
The New-Record, Madison, N.C., January 11, 1962: Charles M. Treadway, 70, of 12177 Maxwell Rd. died in Riverside Hospital at Trenton, Mich., Saturday morning, Dec. 30, 1961. He had suffered from a heart ailment for several years.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. the following Tuesday in Missionary Baptist Church at Monroe, Mich., with the Rev. E. E. Patterson. Graveside services were held under the auspices of Hiram Lodge No. 110 F.&A.M., of Flat Rock. Interment was in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Treadway was born March 6, 1891 in Murphy, N.C. His parents were Randolph and Myra Treadway. On March 19, 1913 he married Allie Wild. He had resided at the Maxwell Rd. address since 1955. Mr. Treadway was employed as an engineer at the Penobscot Bldg., in downtown Detroit for 32 years prior to his retirement a year ago. He was a member of Hiram Lodge No. 110 F.&A.M. of Flat Rock and a Member of the Missionary Baptist Church at Monroe.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, George of Carlton and Earl of Lincoln Park; a half -brother Willis Treadway of North Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Howell and Mrs. Dovie Lovingood; four grandchildren and a great grandchild.

The News-Record, Madison, N.C., Thursday April 02, 1987: Charlie J. Treadway, 81, of Walnut, died early Sunday morning September 5, 1965 in an Asheville hospital following an extended illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Madison County, a retired farmer and a son of the late Adolphus and Sallie Harrison Treadway.
Surviving are the widow, Stella Davis Treadway; five sons, Gordon and Kenneth of Walnut, Walter of Lexington, Jerry of Greenvile, S.C., David Treadway of Marion; three daughters , Mrs. Junior Lunsford of Spartanburg, S.C., Mrs. Pansy Bailey of Hendersonville and Mrs. Burnett Worley of Marion; two sisters, Mrs. May Ledetter of Asheville, and Mrs. Lucinda Davis of Marshall; two brothers George of Marshall and Curtis Tredway of Asheville; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. in Walnut Methodist Church.
The Rev. Joseph Reeves officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers.

Mr. David Henry Treadway, age 73, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011. He was born January 13, 1938 in Buffalo, South Carolina the son of the late Mr. Curtis Stephen Treadway, Sr. and the late Mrs. Pauline Walker Treadway. He retired from Metro Brokers as a Realtor after serving in the Douglas County area since September of 1965. He was a kind and gentle man, who will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Stephen Treadway; stepson, Walter Person and brother, Bobby Treadway; and one nephew.

A gathering of friends and family will be Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 10:00 AM until the service time at 11:00 AM. Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Adair officiating. Dorothy Treadway Services Wednesday
Funeral services for Dorothy J. Treadway will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stryker Mortuary.
Mrs. Treadway died at Fort Worth, Texas Friday at the age of 53 years. She was born March 12, 1908 at Kammerer, and lived a number of years in Laramie. She moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1956.
Survivors include two sons James Treadway of Laramie, and Larry Treadway of Fort Worth; three daughters, Mrs. William Harrison of Naturita, Colo., Mrs. Ray Worley of Fort Worth, and Barbara Treadway; one brother, Clarence Jenkins of Laramie; two sisters, Mrs Ida Jenkins of Laramie and Mrs. Vera Jordan of Cheyenne; and nine grandchildren.
Burial will be in Greenhill cemetery.

The News-Record, Marshal, N.C., Thur. April 2, 1987: Earlie “Dugan” Treadway, 83, of 51 Old Highway 213, Marshall, died Saturday in an Asheville health care center.
A lifelong resident of Madison County, he was a retired farmer and a son of the late Jack and Tilda Sams Treadway. He was a member of Madison Seminary Baptist Church. His wife Flora Rogers Treadway, died in 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Patty Joan Roberts of Asheville; four sons, Bill Treadway of Shelby, Doye Treadway of Memphis, Tenn., Lawrence Treadway o Marshall, and Paul Treadway of Syland; a brother Hubert Treadway of Marshall; a sister Nola Flynn of Richmond, Va.; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three step-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday in the chapel of Bowman Funeral Home. The Revs. E.J. Jenkins, Jesse Slagle and Harry Culberston, Jr. officiated. Burial was in Madison Seminary Cemetery.

Death of Eli Asco Treadway
Carter’s Weekly, North Wilkesboro, Wilkes County, N.C., February 02, 1924: On Feb. 2nd at 8:40 o’clock, 1924, at Cove Gap in Wilkes County, NC. three miles southeast of Pores Knob Post Office, Uncle Eli Asco Treadway, after more than four weeks of intense suffering with pneumonia and a complication of other troubles passed to his reward.
He was born in Anson County, NC. in 1840, was 83 years, 3 months and nine days old.
In his early manhood he was united in marriage to Miss Rouie Smith of Pores Knob, NC., who at this time is critically ill with pneumonia.
To this union were born fifteen children. Seven are living, eight are dead, together with forty-one grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren.
In 1861, he joined the 26th NC Regiment and followed General Lee for three years, was never known to lag behind or give out in any of the long marches made by Lee’s army, received two gunshot wounds – one in the arm, one in the leg.
Soon after the war he settled on the Cove Gap farm where he spent the remainder of his days, was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church, where he was strong in character, faith and public prayer.
He was a good father, husband and neighbor, and was often sent to talk and pray with the sick and dying. On one occasion he was sent for by a widow mother who was dying with consumption, leaving her children without a father or mother to care for them; it was here that Uncle Eli, as he was familiarly called, poured out his soul in one of the most eloquent and fervent prayers ever heard by anyone present.
As he advanced in age he grew more feeble; as he lost vitality he became stronger in prayer and character; the more one learned of his private life the more one loved and esteemed him.
We do not wish to be misunderstood as saying that Eli was without foibles but it is believed that he had fewer than most Christian men, and this is abundantly attested by the love and esteem reposed in him by his many friends, neighbors and especially his children, for surely no father and mother were ever more lovingly cared for by children, grandchildren, sons and daughter-in-laws than was the case on this occasion.
His remains were laid to rest Sunday in the family burying ground in front of his home at 12 o’clock noon. Peace to his ashes and love to his soul.

A native of Madison County and resident of Cedar Grove for the past six months, he was a retired farmer of the Doe Branch section of Madison County. A son of the late Jackson and Elizabeth Thomas Treadway, he was a member of Bernard Free Will Baptist Church.

Mrs. Treadway was born Dec. 19, 1916 in Homer, the daughter of George and Emma (Harris) Trickey. She married Hubert H. Treadway Sept. 8, 1934, in South Sioux City. He died in march 1977 in Los Angeles,. She had lived in California from 1960 to 1980, when she returned to South Sioux City.
Survivors include four sons, Hubert M. of South Sioux City, Benny G. of Ames, Iowa, Eddie of Sioux City, and Earl of Jackson, Neb.; two daughters, Delores Beckenbach of Long Beach, Calif., and Leona Marshall of Bellflower, Calif.; a brother Edgar Trickey of South Sioux City; 28 grandchildren; and several great and great – great- grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Hubert M. Benny, Eddie, Randy, Andy and Chris Treadway.

Emma Mae Treadway
Erma Mae Stanley Treadway, 84, of Artie died Sept. 27, 2005.
Born on Aug. 28, 1921, at Kayford, she was the daughter of the late Jip and Ethel Stamper Stanley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Treadway; three sons, William Jr., Billy and Eugene; and one brother, Herman Stanley.
Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Myrna and E.T. Trial of Clarksville, Ind., Carolyn and Larry Panhorst of Gerald, Mo., Diane and Craig Lilly of New Albany, Ind., and Pam and Ricky White of Dorothy; a brother, Jimmy Treadway of Dorothy; sisters, Dixie Cart and Bertha Bailey; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Advent Christian Church, Artie, with the Rev. Jerry Tyree and Benny White officiating. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery, Artie.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Valley Funeral Home, Whitesville.

Everett Treadway – Columbus, Ohio
Asheville Citizen Times, Septemer 01, 2000: Everett Treadway, 85, passed away Thursday, Aug.31, 2000, at St. Rita’s Nursing Home in Columbus. A native of Madsion County, he had lived in Columbs since 1981. He was the son of the late Elmer and Julia Gosnell Treadway. He retired from WNC Pallet Company in 1977 and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Treadway was proceeded in death by his wife Mae Price Treadway; daughter, Virginia Treadway; sons, Robert, Dwight and David Treadway; and a sister, Margaret Payne.
Mr. Treadway is survived by his daughters, Patricia Freeman of Morristown, Tenn., and Pauline Gaddy of Asheville; sons, Everett Treadway Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, and Walter Treadway of Lawrenceville, Ga.; sisters, Edna Tate of Roxboro, Julia Roberts of Cedar Grove, Frances Tate of Candler and Emma Anderson of Asheville, brothers, Lonnie Treadway of Candler, Jesse Treadway of Piedmont, S.C., Junior Treadway of River Rouge, Mich., and John Treadway of Leicester; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral services for Mr. Treadway will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home. The Rev. Matthew Sams will officiate. Internment will follow in Crooked Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
