     In the name of God Amen I Richard Tredwaye of Beaconsfield in the Countie of Bucks Esquire the Second day of June in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and four and in the year of the Reign of our Soveraigne Lord James by the grace of God King of England ffrance and Ireland defender of the fayth viz the secon And of Scotland the seven and thirtieth being of good and alert memory thanks be given to Almightie God therefore doe make and ordaine my last will and testament in manner and forme following.

     First I bequeath my soule to Almightie God my creator Jesus Christ my Redeemer and Saviour, and to the holie ghost my comforter and werilie believing and stedfastly hoping that by the death and bittor passion of my God & saviour Jesus Christ I shall receive free pardon and ____ remission of all my Sinnes that I shall rise again at the latter day be of man clothed with this my flesh be placed at the right hand of Jesus Christ my loving lord and mercifull Judge and then live with hym in the glory forever and my body be buried in the channell of Beaconsfieild aforesaid.

     Item: I give and bequeath unto the poore people of Beaconsfield aforesaid fortie shillings to be delivered ymediatly after my death.

     Item: Whereas I did lately purchase of one Thomas Cripps unto one Richard Saunders gentleman deceased and to Thomas Goddard gentleman and to their heyres in trust to and for myself cetaine coppiholde landes and tenements in Hedgerly and ffarnham Royall in the Sayd Countie of Bucks and whereas I did likewise purchase to Sir Walter Tredway knight deceased my late sonne and to the said Thomas Goddard and to their heirs in trust for mee and my heirs of Sir Richard Wenman knight certayne arrable land pasture and woody grounds in Beaconsfield aforesaid called Danbereys (Danebury) Grounds, with two meadow plotts thereunto belonging or reputed parcell thereof all which premises are now in the said Thomas Goddard by title of Survivor.

     And whereas I lately purchased unto Thomas Waller of Beaconsfield gentleman and some others in trust and certaine lande in (Monks) Risborough in the Countie of Bucks of one Edmund Clark. Now I Doe intreat the sayd Thomas Waller, and Thomas Goddard and other guarantee or guarantees in trust of the lande and tenement aforesaid that they will sell the premisses to the uttermost value with the advise of my executors to the intent that the money thereof coming may be ymployed and bestowed by my executors towards the payment of my debte and legacyes and performance of this my last will and testament.

     And further my will and mynd ys that my messauge or tenement with the appurtenances in ffarnham Royall aforesayd wherin one Thomas Garrett now dwelleth and all the freehold landes tenaments and hereditaments to the same belonging or with the same __sed or occupied as part parcell member or app____ to or of the same belonging or with the same and all other my freehold lands tenements and hereditaments in Hedgerly and ffarnham Royall afforsayd or in eyther of them in the sayd Countie of Bucks shalbe sould by my executors and the money therof coming shalbe bestowed in payment of my debte and Legacyes and performance of of this my last will and testament .

     And whereas my wife ys to hold during her life all my foure messauges or tenements newlie builded situate and being in or neare Shoo Lane in the Parish of Saint Brides at Bridgett London with the gardens and bart sides there unto Severall belonging with certayne voyd grounde being on the bart side of the said messauge or tenement upon which voyd ground I did intend to erect and build three severall tenements and to that purpose caused a frame to be made now my will and mind ys that my said Executors shall cause the same frame to be sett up and the said three tenements to be erected and builded upon the same ground.

     And my mind and will further ys that my said Executors shall eyther before my wives decease or after at their discretion sell ____ the said messauge or tenement already builded sytuate and being in or near Shoo Lane aforesaid with said parish of Saint Brides at Bridgett London with the gardens orcharde bart sides casement and comodities to the same severally belonging or appurtayning as all the said messauge or tenement and hereditament situate lying and being in the parish of Saint Brides at Bridget aforesayd to such person or persons as to my said Executors shall some meet and ____ the money therof coming to be bestowed upon the payment of my debte and legacyes and performance of this my last will and testament.

     Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Tredway and to my sonne Thomas Tredway all the estate interest and forme and terme of yeres which I have of or in all and everye the messauge tenement orcharde gardens bart sides and hereditament sytuate lying and being on the bart side in the parish of Saint Savior in Southwark in the Countie of Surrey being sometime the land of one (blank space) Blomer and who or late being in the holding of my Assigns forwarde or tennte? To have the same to the said Martha and Thomas their executors and assigns.

     Item: I give and bequeath to Ellen my welbeloved wief soe much goods chattels cattell household stuff and plate as shall amount unto the value of five hundred markes to be payd unto her any some or somes of money goods household stuff or plate (saving only the some of one hundred pounds which I borrowed of her which my will and mind yew shalbe repayed unto her by my executors in convenient time.

     Item: I give and bequeath to my sayd wief her lesser chayne of gold and my will and mind further ys that my sayd wief shall have the rose? and occupation of her bigger golden chayne during her lief and that my daughter Martha shall have the same after the decease of my sayd wief.

     Item: I give and bequeath unto my sonne ffrancis Tredway all my estate and interest which I have or hereafter may have of or in the mannor or farme of Coldham in the Countie of Essex by vertue of any demise made by the Deane and Canons of Windsor. And also the full benefit and comoditye of all bondes covenante and assurances to mee by the said Deane and Canons ___hing or concerning the said manor of Coldham or any other thinge.

     Item: I give and bequeath unto my servant Jane Reade such two of my lyne as shall seem good to my Executors.

     Item: I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Charesley one ____ and to every other servant five shillings a peece.

     And whereas Henrie Sevile Esquire provost of the colledge of Easton having procured the wardshipp of the body and lands of Edward Tredway sonne and heire of Sir Walter Tredway knight my late sonne deceased hath granted and agreed that If my Executors or Assigns shall and maye have and ____ the first cropp and selling of all the woods and wood grounds late the said Sir Walter Tredway in Stoke Podge in the said Countie of Buck being partell of the landes of the said ward and being no part of the ___ture of Lady Anne Tredway late wief of the said Sir Walter Tredway. Now I doe treat the said Master Sevile that he will Comitt and suffer my said Executors to have and enjoy towardes the payment of my debte and Legacyes the same first cropp and selling of the woods afforesaid according to the sayd grant and agreement. And my mind and will ys that out of the money arising of the said woods (my debte first being payed) my sayd Executors shall pay and deliver unto Lettice and Elizabeth the daughter of the said Sir Walter Tredway at the personal dates of their marriage or ages of one and twentie yeres which of them shall first happen the some of fiftie pounds a peece and if eyther of them shall fortune to dye before her marriage or age of one and twentie yeres of her surviving. And if that the said Lettice and Elizabeth both to decease or the forsayd Edward Tredway to decease without yssue of his bodye before the said Lettice and Elizabeth or eyther of them shalbe married or accomplish of one and twentie yeres then the gift or bequest of any legacye or legacyes to the said Lettice and Elizabeth or eyher of them shalbe ___trate and voyd and that then the said severall somes of fifty pounds bequeathed to the said Lettice and Elizabeth shalbe equalie divided amongst my childen which shalbe then living or my childrens children shall all be deceased.

     And whereas I have payed and secured ____ great somes of money to ____ persons for the debte of Sir Walter Tredway for surmounting the value of such goods chattells or other things (late the said Sir Walter Tredway). In part of recompense whereof the said Lady Tredway is contented and hath agreed to assure unto me or suche others at as I should appoint retayne landes lying in the Isle of Sheppey in the Countie of Kent appointed by her said late husband to be sould towards the payment of his debte. Now I doe ____ entreat the said Lady Tredway that she will assure the same landes unto my executors ____ to such person or persons as they shall appoint to the intent the same may be souled to the best value the money wherof coming shalbe imployed about the payment of my debt and legacyes. I have already payed for the debte of the said Sir Walter Tredway more then the said Sir Walter Tredway of the tyhes and other thinge in Stoke Podge and the charges of making the assurance from the said Lady Tredway def___.

     Also I give and bequeath to my sonne Edward Tredway and my sonne in law Willim Andrewes and to their heyres my two tenements with the appurtences in Beaconsfield aforesaid now in the severall tenure of (blank) Lart? and Widdow Michell.

     And further my will and mind ys that all the residue of my goodes chattells plate and ymplements of household and of the money to be made by the sale of the landes tenement woods herein appointed to be sould my debte payed and legacyes performed shalbe distributed amongst my sonns Edward Thomas and Francis and my daughter Martha at the discretion of my Executors and Overseers of this my last will or the survivors of them having respect to their future estate and ____ and the ____ to them already bequeathed.

     Item: I give and bequeath to my sonne in law Richard Gosnold all of the estate interest and terme of yeres which I have or ought to have of or in the Manor of Hanging Langford in the Countie of Wilts and my best gray gilding .

     And I doe make and ordaine the foresaid Thomas Waller and the sayd Richard Gosnold Executors of this my last will and testament. And I doe intreat the sayd Henrie Savile Esquire and Thomas Goddard gentleman overseers of this my last will to see the same performed according to the true meaning thereof. And I do give the said Mr Savile my best bay gilding to the said Mr Waller my lesser bay gilding and to the sayd Thomas Goddard my hoope Ring for their payment to be taken herein.

     And in witness that this is m last will and testament I have hereunto sett my and put my Seale in the presence of the perons hereunder mentoned
