In the name of God Amen – I Elizabeth now the wife of Mr. Amos Treadway of Middletown in the County of Middlesex & State of Connecticut being far advanced in Years & under a languishing State of Health knowing that it is appointed for all Persons once to die & now being of sound Mind & Memory not knowing how soon or sudden my Change will come being desirous before my Death to dispose of that little Inheritance which I was possession of before & after Inter marriage with the above named Mr. Amos Treadway do make tis my last Will & Testament in manner & for following that is to say after my Decease & the decease of my Husband above named & after our just Debts & funeral Charges being first paid. In the first place I Recommend my Soul to God who gave it & my Body to a decent & Christian Burial –
Imrimis – It is my Will & I do freely give to my Sd. named Husband the Use & Improvement of all my landed Interest during his natural life & after his death to be divided as herein after mentions –
viz. – It is my Will & hereby order & direct that my home lot on which my old dwelling House now stand Containing about One & an half Acres & my Pasture Lot (a small Distance south Westerly from Wallox bridge so called) Contt (sp) about Six Acres shall all be divided into four equal parts of the two Lots aforesaid each lot all which I give as follows viz. –
Item. I give & Bequeath to my Son Amos Treadway of sd Middlesex & to his Heirs & Assigns forever one of which said four equal Parts of the Two Lots of Land above mentd –
Item. I give & Bequeath to my Son Elijah Treadway of sd Middletown & to his Heirs of & Assigns forever one of which said four equal Parts of the two Lots of Land above mentioned (meaning that fourth part in the Homelot to accommodate him where he has now erected a new Dwelling House with free Passages ___ed the same –
Item. I give & Bequeath to my Son Seth Treadway of Torrington in the County of Litchfield & to his Heirs forever One of which said four equal Parts of the two Lots of Land above mentioned
Item. I give & Bequeath to my Son Harvey Treadway of Middletown aforesd & to his Heirs & Assigns forever One of which sd. equal for Pats of the two Lots of Land above mentioned meaning that fourth part in the Homelot on which the said old Dwelling House no stands & I also give to the sd Harvey Treadway & to his Heirs forever the whole of my sd. Old Dwelling House only reserving the East Chamber in the same for the use & improvement of which sd East Chamber

I give to my Daughter Clary Treadway during her Continuance in an unmarried State & then to return to Sd. Harvey Treadway together with room enough to pass & repass round sd. House –
Item. It is my Will & I do hereby order & direct my four name Sons rent & deliver to my son Josiah Treadway of the same Middletown the sum of Two Pound Lawfl Money each one in equal Payments which will in the Sum of Ten Shillings each –
Item. It is my Will & I do hereby order & direct my sd. four sons within named viz. – Amos Treadway, Elijah Treadway, Seth Treadway & Harvey Treadway each One in equal Parts to pay & deliver to my Daughter Elisabeth now the wife of W. Joseph Ward Jr. of sd Middletown within mentioned the Sum of Ten Dollars which I do give together for her use & Benefit –
Item. It is my Will & do hereby order & direct my sd. four Sons, above & within named Amos Treadway, Elijah Treadway, Seth Treadway & Harvey Treadway each One in equal Parts to pay & deliver to my Daughter Abigail now the Wife of Mr. Wait Williams of Sharon in the County of Litchfield the sum of Ten Dollars which I do give to her for her use & Benefit.
Item. It is my Will & I do hereby Oder & direct my sd four Sons above & within named Amos Treadway, Elijah Treadway, Seth Treadway & Harvey Treadway each One inequal Parts to pay & Deliver to my Daughter Polly now the Wife of Mr. Benj.n Butler of Catskill in the State of New York the Sum of Twenty Dollars which I do give unto her for her use & Benefit it being for her Extra good Services she had done for her aged Grand. no other before her Death. –
Item. It is my Will & I do hereby order & Direct my said four Sons above & within named Amos Treadway, Elijah Treadway, Seth Treadway & Harvey Treadway each One in equal parts to pay & deliver to m Daughter Clarra Treadway the sum of Ten Dollars which I do give unto her for her use & Benefit –
IN Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my Han & Seal in sd. Middletown this 21st Day of Feby Anno Domini 1799 – wholly revoking all former Wills & declaring this to be my last Will & Testament. in the presence & hearing of the undr, signd. Witnesses –

At a Court of Probt. held in Middletown the 25. of Nov. 1799 – Then his Instrumt. was exhibittd. in Court as the last Will & Testament of Eis.a Treadway late of Middletown Decd & at the same time Anthony Ames, Saml. Winship & Wm Joyce Witnesses to the same affd. before Seal & heard her publish & Declare the same to be her last Will & Testament & at the doing thereof they judged her to be of sound Mind & Memory & that they set to their Hands as Witnesses to the same in the presence of the Testatrix & of each other – And thereupon it is Considered by Court to be well proved & by this Court is approved acceptd. & ___d to be Recorded in the Registry of this Court – And sd Decd having appointed no Executor in the foregoing Will – Amos Treadway is appointed Adm. on sd. Est. with the will annexed & given Bond for te faithful performance of sd. Trust –

This Court appoints Elijah Hubbard Esq. & M___ Lamb.t Cooper & Nichl. Hubbard Jr. to appraise the Est. of Eliz.a Treadway late of Middletown Decd. Real & Personal & make an Inventory thereof & deliver the same to the Administrator who is ord.d to exhibit the same to this Court for Accep-
