In the name of God, Amen. I Henry Tredway of Agmundisham als Andsham in the Countie of Hertford Gent being sick in body but of a sound perfect and disposing memory, God be praised therefore, The seaventeenth daie of December One thousand six hundred thirtie two And in the eight year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord Charles by the grace of God king of England Scotland France and Ireland defender of the faith Doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in maner and form following:
First I commend my soul into the hands of God my Saviour to be made partaker of life everlasting And I commend my body to the earth whereof it is made, and to be buried in the parish church of Agmundisham aforesaid at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named:
And touching my worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased Almightie God to bless me with all I doe first [next page] give and bequeath unto my daughter Readinge the some of one hundred pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her within one year next after my decease.
Also I doe give and bequeath unto the eleaven children of my said daughter Readinge the several somes of five pounds apiece of like lawful money of England to be paid unto them severally within two years next after my decease.
And whereas my sonne in law Raphe Winfield doth owe unto mee the some of five pounds which he did borrow of mee I do give and bequeath the said some of five pounds also the some of five and twentie pounds more of good and lawful money of England unto the five children of my said sonne in law Winfield to be paid and distributed equallie amongst them within two years likewise next after my decease.
Also I do give and bequeath unto my daughter Laine [Jaine?] the some of fifteen pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her within two years likewise next after my decease Also I do give and bequeath unto the three children of my daughter Laine the some of five pounds apiece of good and lawful money of England to be pain unto them severally likewise within two years next after my decease.
Also I do give and bequeath unto my Sonne in law William Russell the some of tenne pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto him likewise within two years next after my decease.
Also I do give and bequeath unto my daughter in law Anne Hardinge the some of tenne pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her likewise within two years next after my decease.
And whereas I do owe and am indebted unto my Cosen Charles Dell my servant in the some of tenne I do give and bequeath the said some of tenne pounds and also the some of tenne pounds more of good and lawful money of England unto the said Charles Dell to be paid unto him likewise within two years next after my decease.
Also I do give and bequeath unto my servant Thomas Heyward the some of five pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto him within two years likewise after my decease.
Also I do give and bequeath unto my servant Joane Child the some of five pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her likewise within two years next after my decease.
Also I do give and bequeath unto my two servants John Clarke and Robert Framthyn [?] the some of twentie shillings apiece of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto them severally likewise within two years next after my decease.
Also I do give and bequeath unto my two prentices Mathew Reading and Richard Hill one Ewe sheepe apiece to breed them a stocke, and to be delivered unto them severallie likewise within two years next after my decease.
Alsoe I doe give and bequeath the some of five pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be distributed amongst such of the poore people inhabiting within the Towne and parish of Agmunddisham aforesaid as my Executor shall think fitt within two months next after me decease.
Also I doe give and bequeath the some of fortie shillings of good and lawful money of England to be distributed likewise amongst such of the poore people inhabiting within the Towne and parish of Chalfont St. Gyles in the Countie of Buck as my Executor hereafter named shall think fitt within two months likewise next after my decease.
Alsoe I doe give and bequeath the some of fortie shillings of good and lawfull money of England to be distributed likewise amongst such of the poore people inhabiting within the towne and parish of Rickmansworth in the said Countie of Hertford as my Executor shall think fitt within two months likewise next after my decease.
Also I doe give and bequeath unto my loving wife the some of fortie pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her quarterly for and during the terme of her naturall life.
Also I doe will and bequeath unto my said wife [?] of all my freehold lands leases goods and chattels whatsoever for and during the term of her natural life, the upper chamber next the garden of the house wherein I doe now inhabit and dwell and all the furniture of bed beddinge and other things whatsoever being in the said chamber.
And also I doe further give and bequeath unto my said wife her board, dyett and firewood for and during the term of her natural life to be spent in the chamber before devised to my said wife as aforesaid.
All the rest of my goods and chattels my leases and tenements whatsoever, my funeral discharges and legacies paid as aforesaid I doe give and bequeath unto my loving sonne Walter Tredway whom I doe ordain constitute and appoint to be my Executor of this my last will and testament.
And I doe intreat my sonnes in law Nathaniel Reading and Raphe Winifield to be Overseers of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I the said Henry Tredway have to each hafe of this my will put my hand and seale the daie and yeare first above written.
