Know all men by these present that I Andrew B. Treadway of Shoreham in the County of Addison and State Vermont, for and in consideration of the sum of then thousand dollars, current money of the United States, received in full to my satisfaction of Joseph Treadway of Shoreham aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have given granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm into the said Joseph Treadway his heirs and assigns forever, he following describe pieces or parcels of land situate in Shoreham aforesaid, to wit, All that tract of land deeded to me by Joseph Treadway and Elizabeth Treadway the wife of said Joseph, on the day and year of the date of this deed and describe therein, as the home farm containing one hundred acres. Also the piece of land described in said deed as the Robinson Lot containing one hundred and forty seven acres. Also one other piece of land described in said deed as the south lot, containing fifty six acres. Also one other piece of land described in said deed as the Robins or Gates Hill lot containing sixty acres of land be the same more or less, reserving always for highways in each of the above described pieces of land reference being had to said Joseph & Elizabeth’s deed to me for a more particular description of said premises. To have and to hold, the above granted and bargained premises, with all the privileges and appurtenances thereof and thereto belonging to the said Joseph Treadway his heirs and assigns to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever. And I the said Andrew B. do for myself and heirs executors and administrators covenant to and with the said Joseph Treadway his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns that at and until the sealing of these presents I am well seized of the premises, in fee simple that I have good right and lawful authority to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, that they are free and clear of all incombrances (sp) and that I will warrant and defend the same against all lawful claims and demands of any person or persons whomsoever pay or cause to be paid, or fulfill or cause to be fulfilled the conditions of a certain bond this day executed by me to Joeph Treadway for the sum of fifteen thousand dollars payable to him or his certain attorney, executors administrators or assigns conditioned that the said Andrew B. Treadway shall support and maintain the above named Joseph Treadway & his wife Elizabeth in a good and comfortable manner such as they accustomed to provide for themselves or may be in need of by reason of sickness and the infirmities of age as becomes their degree, during their natural lives, or the survivor of them; and shall at their decease give them a decent Christian burial, and pay all funeral expenses & erect suitable grave stones at their graves, also pay all the just debts of said Joseph and pay ten dollars per year, cast to said Joseph and Elizabeth during the natural life of the said Joseph, and five dollars each year thereafter to the said, Elizabeth during her natural life, and shall also pay to the said Elizabeth sixty dollars per as per support, provided she the said Elizabeth may choose to reside with any other of her children and not otherwise, and the said Andrew B. shall also pay (shall also pay duplicated) one hundred dollars to the aforesaid Elizabeth whenever she may require said money as travelling expenses in visiting her children and friends. And the said Andrew B. shall at all times permit Polly and Hannah Treadway daughters of the aforesaid Joseph & Eliabeth to make with and reside in his family and care for their needs without expense to themselves or either of them for their ordinary expenses, but if by reason of sickness or otherwise they shall or either of them shall incur any extraordinary expenses, the same shall be borne by the one thus making said extraordinary expenses. The above provision in relation to Polly & Hannah Treadway is only to be binding on the said Andrew B. during the natural lives of the aforesaid Joseph & Elizabeth. The said Andrew B. Treadway shall also pay to Lora Stickney the wife of Tyler Stickney on the first day of October A. D. 1867 the sum of eight hundred dollars, also shall pay Betsy Rich the wife of Charles Rich the sum of seven hundred dollars on the first day of October A. D. 1866. Also shall pay to John T. Rich the son of John, W. Rich & Grandchild of said Josh & Elizabeth Treadway the sum of four hundred dollars on the first day of October A.D. 1865. Shall also pay to Polly Treadway the sum of seven hundred dollars on the first day of October A.D. 1864. Shall also pay Joan Thompson wife James E. Thompson this sum of six hundred and twenty five and thirty dollars one half of which is to be paid on the first day of October A.D. 1861. shall also pay Lewis Treadway the sum of six hundred and twenty five dollars on the first day of October A.D. 1860. Shall also pay Elvira Slayton wife of Thomas M. Slayton the sum of five hundred and thirty dollars one half of which is to be paid on the first day of Oct A.D. 1857 and the other half to be paid on the first day of October A.D. 1859. Shall also pay Loraine Rich the wife of Elisha Rich the sum of five hundred dollars on the first day of October A.D. 1858. And shall also pay Joseph Treadway Junior the sum of Six hundred dollars one half of which is to be paid on the first day of October A. D. 1857 and the remaining half to be paid on the first day of October A.D. 1859. The said Andrew B. Treadway is to execute his notes of hand for the several sums above named to the aforesaid persons agreeable to the conditions of payment thereof, all the befoe named persons to whom the said Andrew B. is to pay the aforesaid sums (Except John T. Rich on the children of the aforesaid joseph and Elizabeth Treadway, then his deed is to become void otherwise to be and

remain in full force and virtue, N. B. the words “suitable and “each” interlined in the forgoing promise were written there before he signing of this deed. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal , this 20th day of September A.D. 1855.
