This Indenture Witnesseth, That William Tredway Son of Ralph Tredway late of Donham, in the County of Bucks decd, Yeoman doth put himself Apprentice John Compon Citizen and Pewterer of London to learne his Art with him after ye manner of (blank) unto the full end and terme of Seven Years, from them next following to be fully compleated and ended During which time ye said Apprentice his said Master faithfully shall serve, his Secrets kept, his lawful Commandments everywhere gladly do. He shall do no damage to his said Master nor to be done of others, but that he to his power shall let,or forthwith give warning to his sd Master of ye same. He shall not wast(sp) ye Goods of his said Master, nor lend them unlawfully to any. He shall not comitt fornication nor contract Matrimony within ye sd same said terme. He shall not play at cardes, DiceTables, or any other unlawful Games, whereby his Master may have any loss. With his owne goods or others, during ye sd terme without license of his sd Master he shall neither buy nor sell He shall not Haunt Taverns nor playhouses, nor absent himself from his Master’s Service day or night unlawfully but in all things as in a faithful Apprentice he shall behave himself towards his sd Master, and all his during ye sd terme And ye sd Master his sd Apprentice in ye same Art which he useth by his best means that he can, shall teach and instruct, or cause to, or cause to be taught and instructed, finding unto his sd Apprentice, meat, drink, Apparel, Lodging, and all other Necessaries, according to the Custom of the Cittie of London, during ye sd terme. And for the true performance of all and every ye sd covenants & agreements, either by ye sd parties bindeth himself unto ye other by these presents. In witness whereof, ye Parties above-named to this Indentures interchangeably have put their Hands and Seals, the Seaventeinth day of June Anno Domm 1703 in ye second year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Ann, by ye grace of God Queen of Engl Scotl france and Ireland Defender of the Faith &c
